I don't think anyone in these halls really knows what they want or who they are.  Still, when every passing adult pushes you to find out while maintaining with an air of superiority that you won't, what choice do we have but to pretend?  I admire those who, when faced with the endless stream of well-wishers asking about their plans for the future, constantly find the courage to reply that they don't know.  I am fairly certain that even if I had planned to go into college with an undecided major somewhere around well-wisher 137 I would have given in and admitted that my true desire was to be a sea urchin harvester.  I have sworn to never ask a high school student what college they are going to.  Then again, teenagers are notorious for their noncommittal answers to anything related to small talk, so I can't really blame adults for hitting on the one sure conversational piece.  And yet, every time I

Wow it's been a while since I've written here.  I have some deep philosophical discussions for all of you, but right now I'm a little bit tired, so I should just say this.  I'm glad to be back on DA, but I'm about to leave for a week.  Then I get back for two days and leave for ten more days.  Sorry about this, it's camping so I won't have access to a computer.  I will respond to all your comments and questions when I get back, and try to comment on the work of everyone I'm watching.  Thanks for your patience, and I'm glad to be back with all of you!

Oh, one thing to share.  I just read this great book; The Hidden Worlds, by Kristan Landon.  It's a coincidence that she's my mother, I swear.

Actually it's her first novel to be published, it's a big deal for her, and me, and it's a really, really good read.  Look for it at your local bookstore.

See you all in a week!

Heh, thanks! I started drawing the trunk, then realised two seconds in that I'd angled it the wrong way. So I turned the page upside down and kept on drawing. The whole thing is still upside down in my sketch book, lol.

It was meticulous work, but easier than I thought. Thanks again!
