Artist's Comments

They say you should watch the sun rise once a year. Not see it, watch it. Once a year, you should get up early with the sole intention of watching the sun rise. I did it once in Mexico, which was amazing, and once in New Mexico, at this place called inspiration point. It wound up being a view not much different from this one. Although, after looking at it I decided this particular scene more resembled a sunset, so there it is...

At any rate, I'd encourage you to try this. Sometime this week even. Wake up, just to watch the sun rise. Try it without a camera with you. No distractions, just enjoy it. Take pictures next time, let this one be you and the beauty of nature.

My submission to the Vue 6 Environment Competition 2008. It didn't make it to the finals, but I learned a lot and had a great time. I wanted to get a sunset with some color other than orange and black in it. I'm trying all sorts of new things with Vue and having an absolute blast. I just got a Macbook Pro, so I can use Vue without constant crashes.

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated! If you're a Vue user, let me know! I'm always looking to meet new users.

Vue 6 Infinite, around 12 billion polygons, no postwork (a requirement for the contest)

Oh, and take a look at the finalists here: [link]

They're breathtaking!

Pretty, it still looks more like a Sunrise to me anyway. Although sunrise and sunset tend to be very similar in colour, I always just imagine sunrise having cooler, pastel shades like purple, pink and yellow. While sunsets usually are darker and stronger, with magenta, red and orange.

Who knows, I'm bound to see the sun rise once a year, usually because the rare occasion where something makes me gte up early lol. But it's way too cold in the mronings at the moment :sleepy:

Definitely your best yet. It looks like a painting in your favorite children's book.

We are friends and I do like to pass the day with you in serious and inconsequential chatter. I wouldn't mind washing up beside you or reading the back half of the paper while you read the front. I would miss you, do miss you and think of you very often.

There is nothing to compare a sunrise over New Mexico too ... (yes I've been there and watched both the sunrise and a sunset there - both are spectacular events)

On you image- excellent job - sorry to hear you didn't win...

Not everyone has the opportunity to die for something. Of those who do, few elect to do it.

I like the way the deep greens work with the purple hues of the sky. It makes for a warm and comforting image. And I've done the watch the sunrise thing several times and it is always rewarding :-]

What kind of lens did you use for this shot? I've always wanted to do some landscapes but never really knew what to do i guess i should probably experiment i have a Nikon D50 with a zoom lens but my mom has the Nikon D90 with a close up lens and then i have a random off brand lens that i don't use really at all, but yeah just wondering
